Owner:  Eric Peterson is a certified Honda technician, completed Spader Marine Management School, and has a BS in Chemical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara.  He worked for 4 years in the manfacturing industry and 13 years as a Air Pollution Control Engineer for Santa Barbara County.  He opened Specialty Marine in 2002.  By 2006, Honda recognized Specialty Marine as the highest volume Honda dealer AND the dealer with the highest level of customer satisfaction in California.  All of the technicions at Specialty Marine were hired both for their experience and their ability to work with customers.  If you have any questions on the work that was done on your boat, Eric will be happy to let you talk to the technicion that did the work.

Service Manager:  Michael Kaufman  has over 12 years experience working on all types of marine engines: inboards and outboards.  In addition, he has 7 years experience installing marine electronics, including chart plotters, radars, wake board towers, sterios and speakers, fish finders, auto pilots and is very knowledgable in 12V troubleshooting.  Mike is an avid wakeboarder and is very knowledgeable in ski boats.

Service Technician:  Oren Hemsworth a has over 18 years experience working on marine engines.  He is factory certified for Mercruiser I/O's and Mercury outboards.  Oren has extensive experience in rebuilding Mercruiser/OMC/Volvo engines and sterndrives, velvet drives, and is excellent at diagnosing and repairing inboard/I/O's.  You won't find a more knowledgable inboard technician anywhere.  Oren graduated from UTI and is also an experienced diesel mechanic. He is an excellent welder and metal fabricator, and is a Coast Guard trained pilot and navigator.

Service Technician:  Jim Garl has over 20 years experience working on marine engines.  He is factory certified in Johnson/Evinrude outboards, OMC I/O's and Volvo Penta I/O's.  Jim has extensive experience overhauling engines and outdrives and repowering boats with both inboard and outboard engines.  Jim's 20+ year career as a marine mechanic has made him knowledgeable in repairing all brands of marine engines.  Jim enjoys boating and is experienced at driving and towing boats up to 26'.
